Web Hosting - Finding a home for your web pages
A Web Host is someone who will provide a home to
your web pages. The cost depends on what you want to do. The following will give
you an idea of recurring costs. If you would like a more detailed assessment,
complete our enquiry form
and we'll send you more information. We will be happy to set up the service that
you need
Free Services
There are many 'free' Internet Service Providers out there who
give web space and if you use one of them, there will be no direct costs. But
many of the 'free' providers are not actually free at all. You should think
about this:
- Some free providers will put their advertising on your Web site. You
need to be sure that this won't put off your customers or clients
- Many restrict their service to personal use and do not like business
users. There are very few that allow you to conduct secure transactions for
example.
- Almost all of them will mean that you end up with a
strange Web address like www.yourcompany.freeforall.co.uk. This could make
you look small scale and unprofessional.
- You have very little control over your web site
Paid Services
The advantages of paid web space are that:
- You have much more control over your web pages
- There is no advertising on your site (unless you want to
put some there yourself)
- you can have your own web name/address -
see Domain Names
for details
- You can have a shopping cart and other e-commerce
facilities
The cost of paid web space varies according to what you want.
We can offer a very competitive set of fully featured packages:
- A basic package with 20 Mb of space and one email address will cost
£8.95 per month (or £96 a year if paid annually)
- A package with 50Mb of space and 10 email addresses will
cost £11.95 per month (or £129 per year if paid annually).
- If you want to accept credit/debit card payments online,
you will need a secure server service that will cost around £10 per month,
though most of our hosting plans include this in the price. (You will also
need an arrangement with your bank to take online credit/debit card
payments)
